ABOUT THE RICHIES
A feast of original short films by New Zealand film makers, shown on a 40ft by 20ft inflatable movie screen under the stars in the grounds of historic Richmond Road School in Ponsonby.
This event is an exciting opportunity for New Zealand short film makers to present their work. The 10-12 New Zealand short films - selected by a jury of leading film industry professionals - are finalists in The Richies Short Film Competition. There are four jury awards - Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Performance, and Best Short Film. And decided by audience text vote on the night - The People's Choice Award. Approximately 1,500 film literate souls - including lots of industry folk - make this New Zealand's largest audience in one sitting, for short films. The Richies are generously supported by leading industry organisations and professionals, alongside local companies and the school community. Pre-screening entertainment. Great food and drink. Fantastic films screened. Film makers applauded. Prizes awarded. Do not miss The Richies! The Richies are a major fundraising event for the benefit of Richmond Road School. The proceeds are used to fund teacher aides, who provide one on one literacy and numeracy support to children in need.
