The Richies, formally known as The Richmond Road Short Film Festival, is an event where short film makers can enter into a Short Film Competition and have a chance to win prizes and an award "A Richie" for Best Screenplay, Best Performance, Best Director, Best Overall Film, and a Peoples Choice award.

This is New Zealand's biggest audience of short film viewing in one sitting, for short films previously made.

A feast of original short films made from local New Zealand Directors, Producers and Actors shown on a huge 40ft by 20ft inflatable movie screen under the stars in the grounds of historic Richmond Road School in Ponsonby.
